MENTOR PROGRAM

We absolutely enjoy sharing what we have learnt – no holds barred – with the next generation. That’s because we’re unashamedly committed to building the bridge of opportunity and knowledge between ASEAN and Australia.

We have been mentoring emerging talent in ASEAN and Australia through the Venturenauts’ successful program of practical internships since 2012.

These are some of their stories.

Australian

Lyle Crombie

Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Business Management
Research Lead, Digital Services and Behavioral Design Team, Australian Tax Office

My time with Venturenauts set me up with the skills I needed to be a competitive job applicant and earn a place reshaping the way the Australian Government works with its clients. As an economics/ international business graduate I was supported and mentored from day one and entrusted to help the firm establish sound economic policy in developing nations. If you have the drive to grow professionally, Venturenauts will put you in good stead.

Sven Eisner

Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts
Records Review Officer, New South Wales Office of the Children’s Guardian

My internship with Venturenauts has been one of my most valuable learning experiences. Eleanor and Peter provided me with guidance and insights which have been of great value to me throughout my career. I would strongly recommend the Venturenauts internship program.

Jessica Gahang

Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws
Solicitor, Policy Advisory and Legal Services, Victorian State Revenue Office

Venturenauts offers the opportunity to do a wide variety of work on projects which integrate private sector innovation with broader public policy goals, both within Australia and Asia. The work is both interesting and challenging, presenting numerous opportunities to network with influential business people and government officials. Working with Eleanor and Peter has helped me to transform my knowledge into practical skills around business diplomacy and value-adding to business models. Such skills have helped me demonstrate that I have a strong commercial awareness, and as such, I have been able to gain employment in a government role which I love.

International

Christian Sy

Former U.S. Congressional Staffer

As an international student, my internship with Venturenauts really opened my eyes to the exciting opportunities in Australia and ASEAN. Peter and Eleanor are great to work with. The internship offers you a unique chance to contribute to projects dealing with business, policy, and international relations.

Muhammad Affendy bin Hasni

Bachelor of Laws, National University of Malaysia (UKM)
Pupillage with a legal firm, Malaysia

When I started my internship with Venturenauts, I knew it was going to be an exciting internship under the supervision of my two great mentors, Eleanor and Peter. At Venturenauts, I was trained to work as a professional and both Eleanor and Peter expected no less from me although I was very much new to the field of work that Venturenauts is venturing in.

I think it is always a good practice for an Asian student like me who received different education and values to explore new knowledge and values by doing overseas internship. Eleanor and Peter are always ready to impart new knowledge and skills and very much open to any new ideas and suggestions even from a young intern like me.

At Venturenauts, I learnt the importance of producing deliverables on time. More importantly, the deliverables must look professional as we deal with clients who always expect the best from us.

I also learnt that emphasizing little details at work make a lot of difference and that little details sometimes bring you further in achieving goals in any work assignments that you have set out to do.

In conclusion, Venturenauts brings the best out of me and I encourage my friends out there to experience internship with Eleanor and Peter. Everyday at Venturenauts is a new day and sky is the only limit.
